Dealt a bad hand

Troy High's co-ed bowling team will return to Uncle Sam Lanes for their home finale on Tuesday vs. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, weather permitting. With reports of another winter storm headed our way, there's no guarantee the match will be played.

If in fact the match is postponed, it'll be the second straight for Troy, which had a road match at Saratoga wiped out by weather last Thursday. This was because of the Saratoga district's decision to close their schools, after starting with a 2 hour delay. The two teams will try again on Wednesday before Troy travels to Colonie to play Christian Brothers Academy in what is supposed to be the season finale this Thursday.

It will be the second time in three weeks that Troy has had to have three matches in as many days, but what can you do? Rescheduling matches on weekends is out because of scheduling conflicts with junior leagues, including the Joe Schmidt Pro-Scoring League, a traveling league whose membership includes a number of Section II bowlers. Two weeks ago, Troy had a daunting three day stretch where they lost all three matches that week. There is nothing that can be done, as these matches are at the mercy of Mother Nature. Troy (5-6) would like to close the season with a win or two, but there are no guarantees, and with the Suburban Council tournament looming on the horizon, there's no way to be sure they'll even finish the league schedule. Stay tuned.
