Sectional roundup, 2/15

There was a full slate of sectional basketball action Friday night, in addition to the Emma Willard-Troy game. Here's the rest of the results from Friday:

Women's Class AA:

Niskayuna defeated Columbia, 60-54. That's the good news. The bad? The Silver Warriors earn another date with Shenendehowa.

Bethlehem downed Catholic Central, 61-37, leading to a meeting with #2 Albany, and there's been some friction in recent history between the Eagles & Falcons.

Women's Class A:

Ballston Spa defeated South Glens Falls, 59-34, to earn a rematch with Averill Park.

Gloversville beat Mohonasen, 61-42, ending the Mighty Warriors' 1st season in the Colonial Council on a downer. Academy of Holy Names is next for Gloversville.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, trying to prove they're not a doormat anymore, having won a couple of league games this season, beat Scotia-Glenville, 51-49, but will get Queensbury in the next round.

Women's Class D:

Whitehall edged Fort Ann, 36-31, and will face top-seeded Fort Edward in the quarterfinals.

Germantown beat Northville, 51-22. North Warren is next.

Argyle shut down Loudonville Christian Academy, 64-32, to earn a date with Hartford.

Heatly beat Salem, 62-31, and will play Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons next.

Men's Class B:

Hudson Falls over Cohoes, 58-56. The top team in the Colonial Council, Schalmont, awaits.

Greenville beat Broadalbin-Perth, 71-51. Unfortunately, that means a meeting with Joseph Girard III and Glens Falls in the next round.

Men's Class C:

Cambridge beat Saratoga Central Catholic, 51-44, and will play Lake George next.

Fort Plain beat Galway, 62-57, earning a match with Chatham.

Rensselaer downed Berne Knox-Westerlo, 54-52, and will play Hoosick Falls next.

Hadley-Luzerne beat Duanesburg, 59-44. They'll play #3 Maple Hill next.

Hockey sectionals begin today, and we'll have a report from Hudson Valley Community College later.
