Section II is down to 5 teams for state football supremacy, and the road to the Syracuse Carrier Dome begins tonight for three of those teams. Unfortunately, none of the games will be televised as of press time, as Spectrum's Friday Night Matchup ended its season slate last week. State finals will be broadcast on Spectrum in two weeks on Thanksgiving weekend.
The lineup:
Tonight:
Class AA: Shenendehowa vs. Pine Bush @ Shaker High, 7 pm.
Class B: Schuylerville vs. Potsdam @ Ogdensburg Free Academy, 7 pm.
Class C: Stillwater vs. Governeur @ Mohonasen, 7 pm.
Saturday:
Class A: Queensbury vs. Cornwall @ Shen, 3 pm.
Class D: Warrensburg vs. Moriah @ Glens Falls, 1 pm.
Per the Daily Gazette, the Class D game was moved from Beekmantown to Glens Falls. No reason given, other than the possibility that weather issues earlier this week made the Beekmantown field unplayable. As a result, Section II hosts four of the five regional games, instead of three as originally planned.
"High School Fridays" returns in 2 weeks.
