News & notes

Troy High's combined swimming & diving team with CBA had a make-up meet vs. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake on Tuesday, with the Flying Brothers winning, 50-39, to run their record to 4-1 on the season. The two teams will meet again in the regular season finale February 4 at Burnt Hills.

Didn't happen. Jeter finished one vote shy of unanimous election to the Hall, as he becomes the second straight Yankee with 518 ties (he began his career with the Albany-Colonie Yankees, as Rivera did) to gain induction in his first year of eligibility.

A third member of the "Core Four", Andy Pettitte, failed to earn enough votes in his first year of eligibility.

Congratulations to Jeter. Yankee fans will be causing traffic issues in Cooperstown come July. Again.
