Siena College's women's basketball team was swept by Marist over the weekend, and, if you go by media reports, it was disheartening on Saturday, as the Red Foxes blew out the Lady Saints, 69-44. Iris Young, the Saints' leading scorer, missed the series due to COVID protocols, and the Saints suffered in her absence. Marist completed the sweep on Sunday, 60-44. Ashley Williamson led Siena on Sunday with 30 points in a losing effort.
Siena is hoping to get Young back for Wednesday's game at Quinnipiac, assuming they can finally get that game in.

UAlbany gained a split of its men's basketball series with Lowell, beating the River Hawks, 81-69, on Saturday. With the win, the Great Danes earned a berth in the America East tournament next month.

Moving out of town, softball season has started for colleges in most of the country. Pittsburgh lost both games in a Friday doubleheader in Florida, getting shelled by Liberty, 10-4, and losing to New Mexico State, 6-3. Hunter Levesque (Troy High) went 1-7 in the two games with a walk and a run scored to begin her senior season.
A doubleheader on Saturday was rained out. The Panthers will be back in action in a ACC pod Thursday. They'll play six games across three days with host Duke (Thursday & Friday) & Virginia (Friday & Saturday).
