18 months ago, Troy High opened the 2019 season at LaSalle, and it was an embarrassing showing for both schools, as the game slogged through three hours due to sloppy play and penalties for most of the night.
On Friday, the Fall II (2021) season finally began, with the teams returning to the scene of the crime, if you will. This time, the teams combined for 17 penalties over three quarters before the officials decided to let them play in the 4th quarter. By then, however, Troy High had things well in hand, and coach Bob Burns rested his starters.
LaSalle's John Audino is now 0-3 vs. Troy, which retains the Collar City Cup. Troy goes home to begin a 3 game homestand vs. Amsterdam next week, while the Cadets entertain Columbia. The Blue Devils were blown out, 34-8, by Averill Park.
LaSalle's YouTube channel never got going, and, in hindsight, maybe it was just as well, to spare parents & alumni the embarrassment. Whomever was in charge of the live-stream never made it in time.
Other scores:
Shaker def. Shenendehowa, 20-0.
Guilderland def. Bethlehem, 35-8, in a neutral site game, as the game was played at Schenectady, as Guilderland's home field, which is natural grass, wasn't ready for play.
This condition is why other Section II games are being played today in the daylight, as grass fields still aren't ready, even after all the snow has melted.
====================================
In women's volleyball, Troy dropped its second straight, this time to Schenectady in straight sets. Troy (0-2) is now idle until Wednesday at Colonie.
Update, 9:42 am: It seems Schenectady streams their home games on the NFHS Network first before posting to YouTube. Here we go:
