Way too much Horsepower (Schenectady @ Troy, 3/8/21)

Almost exactly a month ago, Troy & Schenectady opened the Suburban Council basketball season at Zotto Gym. After falling behind by 7 at halftime, Troy pulled away in the second half. You have to figure coach Richard Hurley used that as a teaching tool going into today's quarter-final round game in the league tournament.

Lesson learned.

Schenectady had a brief lead in the 1st quarter, but as soon as Troy reclaimed the lead, they never gave it back. The Flying Horses dominated the balance of the game. Senior Josh Rodriguez played every second of the first three quarters, and only came out when Hurley pulled the starters with about 2 minutes left in the game. They're going to need another iron man performance like that going forward.

Troy moves on, 73-46. Here's the video:

The Troy women will take part in the consolation tournament, and will host a game on Wednesday. However, the pairings for the consolation tournament haven't yet been made public.

We'll have final stats and scores of all the games on today's schedule on Tuesday.
