High school Fridays: Friday's scoreboard, 5/7

Anytime a Troy High team beats Shenendehowa in anything, it's news.

So imagine the surprise washing over ye scribe upon seeing that Troy's baseball team opened their season with a 4-1 upset of the Plainsmen. Some websites, such as GameChanger, have not yet been updated for 2021, which will cause some confusion.

On the other hand, Shen shut out Troy in men's tennis, 9-0. Nothing new for Troy (0-1), which is finding meet wins hard to come by in the Suburban Council, and have since entering the league in 2015-16. Shen also defeated Troy in softball, 3-2, which leaves Sean Geisel's club at 1-1 after 2 games.

Today, the Lady Horses are right back at it vs. Schenectady. However, a Mother's Day double-dip vs. Cohoes has been cancelled, wiped off the Troy page at Schedule Galaxy. The only explanation ye scribe can think of is anticipation of rain on Sunday. Doesn't look like they'll reschedule.

Troy's home opener in lacrosse vs. Amsterdam was not reported as of press time.
