News & notes

 The women's revolution, if you will, in high school golf, has produced some major dividends for Section II.

The Albany Times-Union's Pete Dougherty reports today that the 2022 state championships will be held at MacGregor Country Club in Saratoga, while the 2023 & 2024 events will be a ways down the road at Edison Country Club in Rexford, meaning in both cases that the Suburban Council would host the events.

All well & good, but the Saratoga County clubs shouldn't be the only ones. What about Troy Country Club? Shaker Ridge? Wolfert's Roost? Normanside?

I think you're seeing a theme here. Seems as though Section II suits think Saratoga County is the hub of high school sports in their district. Just sayin'.

Not a good night for Shaker grad Jeff Hoffman Tuesday night in Pittsburgh. The Reds pitcher lasted just 4 innings in a 7-2 loss to the Pirates, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits, walking 2, and striking out 4. He's not doing too badly at the plate, either, this season, though he went 0-1 in the game to drop his average to .250 for the season. 

His season record, however, falls, to 2-3.

Troy High still hasn't won a track meet yet, finishing last behind Columbia & CBA on Tuesday in a men's meet. The women are on the track today at Columbia.
