High School Fridays: Troy @ Guilderland (women's basketball), 1/21/22

There was a time when the Lady Dutch of Guilderland owned Troy High. Not so this season.

It's stunning to see Guilderland near the bottom of the Blue division in the Suburban Council, but there they are, as Troy came in tonight, looking to build momentum off Tuesday's win over Schenectady before heading to Kingston tomorrow.

It took the Lady Dutch until the 2nd quarter to finally realize that a full court trap press has been Troy's weakness this season. Troy uses a half court press in opposition. However, it seems coach Ryan Meikle has finally figured out how to beat the press. Troy led virtually all the way in this one. Makya Chapman tallied 10 points for the 2nd straight game, and this time was the only Troy player in double figures. Solaris Nunez added 8, as Troy has now won four of six with a 31-22 verdict.

Check the video. Guilderland actually has a broadcast team.

Troy, now 5-9 overall (3-7 Suburban Council) is 2-0 on the current road trip, which takes them to Kingston tomorrow, and then to their usual house of horrors at Shenendehowa next Friday.

Other scores:

Burnt Hills 63, Schenectady 25.
Bethlehem 72, Ballston Spa 22.

Full stats tomorrow.
