After a tough win over Bethlehem less than 24 hours earlier, Troy High men's basketball coach John Killian wanted a showcase performance from his team before they close the regular season on Monday with a Senior Night game vs. undefeated Niskayuna.
Wish granted, with interest.
Mount Anthony Union, a Vermont school, was playing its 3rd game in the 518 zone this week, having lost earlier in the week to Hoosick Falls and Albany Academy. They hung with Troy in the first half, and led, 24-21, at the break.
And, then, the beatdown began.
Troy came out of the break re-establishing control, and held the Patriots to just 3 points in the 3rd quarter, and 6 in the 4th. Of Troy's starters, only Chase Peterson was still in the game late in the 4th quarter, leading the 2nd unit, as the Flying Horses cruised to a 63-33 victory. Mount Anthony falls to 2-10 overall on the season after their second straight blowout loss (Academy similarly routed them on Tuesday). Troy improves to 10-7 overall (8-4 Suburban Council), with Niskayuna looming on Monday.
