High School Fridays: Party Crashers (Bethlehem @ Troy, women's basketball, 2/11/22)

It was Senior Night at Troy High for the women's basketball team. After seniors Makya Chapman, Gianna Carbonaro, & Solaris Nunez were honored in a pre-game ceremony, it was time to get down to business.

Unfortunately, the Lady Horses forgot that part of the memo.

Bethlehem, having lost five straight themselves, needed to get back on track in a major way in their final Suburban Council game of the season, hoping for a favorable seeding when pairings for the sectionals are announced on Wednesday.

Mission accomplished.

The Lady Eagles stopped the bleeding by holding Troy to 3 points in the 1st quarter, 2 in the 4th quarter, despite not consistently using the full court pressure that most teams have used against Troy. It got to the point where coach Kim Wise began pulling her starters in the 3rd quarter, as the Lady Eagles never felt threatened at all. Troy drops its 5th straight, 78-22.

Or, in the words of Keith Olbermann back in the day, guhhhh.

Bethlehem will finish with non-league games tomorrow vs. Kingston, which has also beaten Troy, and on Monday vs. Schalmont. Troy finishes on the road at Niskayuna on Monday.

Check the video.

Other women's scores as of press time:

Cohoes 55, Cobleskill-Richmondville 42.
Ichabod Crane 54, Ravena 44.
Catholic Central 59, Academy of Holy Names 53.
Waterford 33, Stillwater 29.

The men's game between Troy & Bethlehem is not available on YouTube at present, as Bethlehem cut off their stream as the varsity teams were warming up. Full stats tomorrow.
