News & notes

 A little more than 48 hours after winning on Saturday, UAlbany's women's basketball team fell to Vermont, 63-55, to split the season series. Helene Hagerstrand led Albany with 12 points. Kayla Cooper was held to just 2 free throws for 2 points.


Grace Heeps (Columbia) finished with 8 points. Lilly Phillips (Cambridge) added 4. The Lady Danes return home to play Binghamton on Wednesday.

Saratoga won the Class A (no class AA in bowling) men's sectionals at Boulevard Bowl on Monday after finishing 11th in the Suburban Council championships five days earlier. Troy finished in 13th place.

Siena's women's basketball team dropped another tough one on the road, this one vs. Manhattan, 69-61. Rayshel Brown had 18 points before fouling out with just a shade over 3 minutes left in the game. Again, no box score.

Adirondack 5, Burnt Hills 2. Points-wise, the defending champions are in a 3-way logjam in 2nd place, 1 1/2 points behind Shenendehowa. The Rivermen close vs. Saratoga on Wednesday.

Colonial Council:

Cohoes 84, Ichabod Crane 72. Royal Brown had 47 points for the Tigers.

Foothills Council:

Broadalbin-Perth 60, Johnstown 50.

Troy 60, Niskayuna 54. Dan Covington led Troy with 20 points. Terrence Clark finished with 16, and Chase Peterson added 10. Owen Evans had 17 for Niskayuna.

Niskayuna 49, Troy 29. Kathleen Birmingham led all scorers with 17 points for Nisky. Makya Chapman & Ava Mamone had 9 each for Troy.

Albany 62, Ballston Spa 15. The box score submitted was mixed up.
Shaker 55, Colonie 49.
Averill Park 51, Shenendehowa 50. Amelia Wood had 18 points, and made a key steal on the final play to ice it for the Lady Warriors. Jillian Huerter had 18 for Shen.

Wasaren League:

Hoosick Falls 63, Stillwater 27.

Non-league:

Guilderland 68, Albany Academy 50.
Schalmont 52, Bethlehem 44. Payton Graber led all scorers with 26 points for the Lady Sabres. Kaitlyn Robbins led Bethlehem with 17, a season high. Maren Louridas was held to 12 points.
