News & notes

 UAlbany men's basketball coach Dwayne Killings will return next season. Just not right away.

Killings will serve a 5 game suspension for his assault on a player back in November, and pay a fine, before returning to the bench for the 2022-3 season. He'll also perform community service in the form of charity work, according to reports.

While Lansingburgh went from doormat to contender in football the last couple of seasons, a lot of the credit goes to QB Andrew Lyman, who started for the Knights the last two seasons.

Lyman has since signed a letter of intent to attend Alfred University in the fall. I am not sure of this, but he may be the first one in his family not to take up the family business of bowling. I should know. His father & grandparents were family friends of my family for years.
========================================
Brett Young (Albany Academy/Virginia Commonwealth) was back in the Siena lineup Saturday after being out for 2 weeks with an undisclosed injury. Siena split a doubleheader with Marist, losing the first game, 6-3, before walking off the Red Foxes, 4-2, in game 2. Siena is 4-1 in the MAAC, but a disheartening 6-18 overall.

The Albany FireWolves snapped a recent losing streak to beat Vancouver, 11-7, late Saturday night, to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Meanwhile, Albany's other winter pro sports team, the Patroons, were to play Massachusetts on Friday, but that game was cancelled at the last minute with no explanation. Albany is at Lehigh Valley this afternoon in the final meeting with the Legends this season.
