As of press time, none of the Section II alumni touted for this year's MLB Entry Draft had been called.
However, Vanderbilt grad Kumar Rocker, recently with the Tri-City Valleycats, was drafted 3rd overall by Texas. We'll soon see if the Rangers have better luck signing Rocker than the Mets did last year, when the latter had to deal with sketchy medical information.
Rocker's agent, the notoriously greedy Scott Boras, had Washington star Juan Soto turn down a contract offer worth $440 million over the weekend, which makes one question who's driving that bus.

Meanwhile, the 'Cats limp into the Frontier League's All-Star break on a five game losing streak after getting swept in New Jersey over the weekend. Tri-City has plunged to sixth place in the East, and will welcome the Gateway Grizzlies on Friday.

Going into the weekend, the Albany Empire needed to win out in order the make the playoffs and open defense of their National Arena League title. Part 1 saw them complete a season sweep of the Orlando Predators, 74-53, on Saturday night. Check the video.
The Empire close out the regular season with a rubber match vs. the San Antonio Gunslingers on Saturday night. After the teams split the first two meetings in Texas, the 'Slingers are finally coming East.
