Summer sports roundup, 6/15

Headed into the 7th inning Thursday night, the Albany Dutchmen trailed the Saugerties Stallions, 8-1, and it looked like the hosts would make it four in a row over the Dutchmen, including three this week.

Nope. Not this time.

The Dutchmen plated 8 runs in the final three innings to finally beat the Stallions, 9-8. Check the video:

The Dutchmen stay on the road to play undefeated Amsterdam tonight, weather permitting.

The Albany Patroons have their backs up against the wall after losing to St. Louis, 108-86, Thursday in the TBL Eastern Regional Finals. Game 2 is Sunday at 3, with a 3rd game, if needed, Monday at 7, both at the Armory. The two teams did not meet during the regular season, by design, it would appear, but maybe that changes next year.

Aaron Altherr was once a promising star with the Philadelphia Phillies. But his offense didn't catch up with his defense, and he became a journeyman, even spending some time with the Mets a couple of years ago.

With the Tri-City Valleycats, Altherr suddenly looks like a world beater.

Altherr hit his 4th homer this week, 5th of the season, and helped the 'Cats defeat Lake Erie, 9-2, Thursday. The 'Cats welcome the Florence (Ky) Y'alls tonight at 6:30, again, weather permitting.
