News & notes

Former Albany Empire owner Mike Kwarta wants back into the game. Problem is, the state Worker's Compensation Board is playing hardball.

In an interview published in today's Albany Times-Union, Kwarta says the state is requiring a premium in excess of $1 million, or, according to the article, 4-5 times the team payroll. Kwarta and his new partners want the premium lowered so they can accept an offer from either the new iteration of the Arena Football League or the Indoor Football League within the next two weeks.

Good luck with that.
