News & notes

"One step up, and two steps back"---Bruce Springsteen.

Reese Poffenbarger's decision Wednesday to enter the transfer portal may be a major hindrance to UAlbany's chances of repeating their success next year.

Now, as we've seen, entering the transfer portal doesn't mean the player is leaving. Basketball player Jonathan Beagle decided to try the transfer portal after last season, but decided he was better served staying close to his home in Hudson Falls. That said, there's a good chance Poffenbarger stays, but we'll see.

Staying on the UAlbany tip, the women's basketball team took down UMass Wednesday afternoon in a businessman's lunch special at the Mullins Center. Meghan Huerter (Shenendehowa/Providence) came off the bench to lead 4 Lady Danes in double figures with 15 points. Lilly Phillips (Cambridge) added 14.
