News & notes

While Troy High's women's basketball team was humiliated at home during the Holiday Classic, the same cannot be said for the men.

Josh Pelletier's club defeated Middletown, 75-61, on Friday, led, yet again, by the Merritt brothers, Stetson & Legend, who combined for 44 points (28 & 16, respectively).

On Saturday, Stetson, a freshman, was shut down, and Shenendehowa, which lost to Niskayuna on Friday, downed Troy, 62-46. Troy plays Guilderland on Friday.

Schenectady won the men's Viking Games at Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday. LaSalle placed 11th. Scotia-Glenville won the women's competition. LaSalle's women fared worse in a larger field, finishing 18th. Troy did not send their teams.
