The NY Racing Association has announced that Saratoga will host 23 stakes races in the 4 day Belmont Stakes Racing Festival, taking place June 6-9.
Some races, including the Belmont, will be run at shorter than normal distances because of the smaller oval at the Old Spa. The Belmont is one of five races reconfigured to 1 1/4 miles. The others are the Acorn, the Critical Eye, the Ogden Phipps, named for the owner-breeder, and the Commentator.
The spring-summer meet will be run at Aqueduct until June 5, then return a week later to finish out before Saratoga begins its annual meet July 11.
