LaSalle Institute hosted a 2 day tournament to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., but, aside from a game report on Sunday's match between Our Lady of Lourdes & Catholic Central, the tournament got little or no play before today.
We don't know how the Cadets fared Saturday due to that lack of information. What we do know is that the Crusaders, who sit in 1st place in their division in the Colonial Council, ran their winning streak to 10 in a row by beating Bishop Ludden, 73-52, on Saturday, and taking down Our Lady of Lourdes, 85-50, on Sunday. Guy DiBacco's club hasn't lost since losing to Colonie in the season opener last month at Siena.
Similarly, a doubleheader at Troy High didn't get much play, either. We're waiting on the result of Sunday's rematch between Shaker & Bethlehem, with the Bison looking to avenge their loss on January 9.
In the nightcap, Troy dropped its 4th straight, 82-71, to Albany Academy. Cyrus Matia led 5 Cadets in double figures with 18 points. The Legend brothers, Stetson (12) & Legend (17) led Troy (2-10 overall), which is set to travel to Burnt Hills tomorrow before returning home to entertain Averill Park on Friday. Weather permitting in both cases, per early forecasts.
Back to LaSalle. The Troy Cadets took down Bishop Ludden, 72-52. Robert (Baron) Sicluna led LaSalle with 21 points, Tra'dell Faison added 20, and Emmanuel Karakari-Mensah chipped in with 14.
On the women's side......
Bethlehem 75, Cicero-North Syracuse 67. Paige Davenport & Kaitlyn Robbins returned after missing Tuesday's loss to Shaker. Davenport led the Eagles with 23 points. Robbins added 14. In all, Bethlehem hit 13 3-pointers, led by Davenport's 5 treys.
Catholic Central 63, Bishop Kearney 60.
Averill Park 53, Binghamton 33.
Shenendehowa 59, Pearl River 33.
