News & notes

Maybe the Albany FireWolves should put those throwback Attack jerseys back in the vaults.

Going retro for one night didn't work for the playoff-bound 'Wolves as they fell to Toronto, 10-7, Saturday night at MVP Arena. Nice idea, but it didn't work.

Up the hill at the Washington Avenue Armory, the Patroons made seafood out of the Rhode Island Kraken, 109-74, giving coach Derrick Rowland his 150th career win. If you check out Chuck Miller's account of the game on his blog, you'll see he made a hidden reference to an old time cartoon from the 50's in summarizing Albany's win over the Connecticut Crusaders on Friday.

The Pats are back on the road this Friday, at Jamestown, while the 'Wolves visit someplace called Panther City on Saturday.

A couple of years ago, wrestler-singer Chris Jericho cancelled an appearance by his band, Fozzy, at Empire Live. At the time, All Elite Wrestling was dealing with a plague of injuries, and Jericho gave up some tour time to help the promotion. When he rescheduled the 2022 tour, Albany wasn't included.

In October, he'll try again.

Fozzy has been announced to play at Empire Live in late October. Tickets are just in the $25-28 dollar range, though surcharges will be added if you order tickets through 3rd party vendors (i.e. Ticketmaster).
