High School Fridays: Runaway train (Holy Names @ Catholic Central, 1/17/25)

WNYA's cameras were at Riverside Center in Mechanicville for the 2nd straight week, this time with a women's basketball game between Catholic Central and the Academy of Holy Names. Meghan Huerter (Shen/UAlbany) joins Rodger Wyland at the desk this week, giving Steve Sgambelluri the night off.

This wasn't even close. The Lady Crusaders ran out to an 11-0 lead at the start, and never looked back. Holy Names was on the back foot the entire night.

Catholic Central has all but wrapped up the Colonial Council title (it's only 1 division now), with a month left in the regular season. As noted in commentary, Audra DiBacco's club will head for NYC to play non-league games the next two days.

Also:

Troy dispatched Mohonasen on the road, as Jamil Hood's club won its 8th in the last 9, 69-62. And at Zotto Gym, Will Harris' Lady Horses won their 3rd straight, 52-33.

The links had to be taken down because both games have been pulled from Hudl for editiing.

The two teams will meet again on Valentine's Day in what will be the regular season finale for the women.

Hockey:

CBA splits its season series with LaSalle with a 2-1 win. Not the kind of result the Cadets wanted with Cadets For Vets tomorrow night.
