News & notes

Kevin Huerter, now with the NBA's Sacramento Kings, returned to Shenendehowa's gym on Tuesday for the first time since the 2018 NBA Draft, as Shen was retiring Huerter's #3 jersey.

Unfortunately, Shaker spoiled the party by upsetting Shen, 68-60, handing Paul Yattaw's club their first league loss of the season.

On Sunday, UAlbany's women's basketball team will swap basketballs for bowling balls.

For the 7th year, the Lady Danes will have the Bowling Classic at Apex Entertainment at Crossgates Mall. Entries are a little pricey, and not because it's a fund-raiser for the UAlbany athletic program. Regular bowling at Apex, whether it's traditional 10 pin or candlepin, is steep at an hourly rate of, at last check, $55 per person per hour. On Sunday, it'll be $70 per person for the event, and $250 for a group of 4. Non-bowlers can get in for $30.

The folks at Apex have to charge that much on a regular basis to pay the rent.
