 The Basketball League opened its 2024-5 season Friday, and both of the 518's teams were winners.

At the Washington Avenue Armory, the Albany Patroons took down Halifax, 128-101. Trashon Burrell (Bishop Maginn) led the Pats with 24 points.

Down the road in Schenectady, the NY Phoenix won their first game, beating Connecticut, 104-94. Ex-Patroons Shadell Millinghaus (20 points) & AJ Mosby (18) helped former teammate-turned-coach Trevis Wyche break his coaching maiden.

Meanwhile, the Albany FireWolves fell to Rochester, 14-7, as a plunge from the penthouse to the outhouse continues. Dyson Williams had a hat trick to lead Albany. The 'Wolves return to MVP Arena two weeks from tonight for Superhero Night vs. Georgia.

Columbia 60, Troy 40. The Lady Horses were held to 12 points in the first half, as Columbia used a full court press to continue their dominance over Troy, which sees a 5 game win streak end. Troy finishes 15-7.
