News & notes

Myles Wilmoth was one of Gerry McNamara's first recruits after McNamara was hired to be the men's basketball coach at Siena a year ago.

Now, Wilmoth, with one year of eligibility remaining, has decided to enter the transfer portal. A reserve forward, Wilmoth averaged just under 3 points a game this season.

However, help may be on the way if Wilmoth decides not to return.

Riley Mulvey (Albany Academy) is also entering the transfer portal after leaving Iowa in the wake of ex-Saints coach Fran McCaffrey's dismissal last week. Mulvey told the Albany Times-Union he has his eyes on Siena, and reuniting with former Academy teammate Marcus Jackson.

The Albany Firebirds will launch their 2025 season Friday vs. Southwest Kansas at MVP Arena, and now, the game will air on Vice TV instead of streaming on EvergreenNow as originally scheduled. After Arena Football 1 was announced with 14 teams, the league is down to 8 due to expulsions & withdrawls, including veteran franchises in Arizona & Orlando.

Seems to me that part of the arena problem is competition from the UFL, which will begin its 2nd season later this month on Fox.
