 Shaker grad Tommy Kahnle saw action for Detroit vs. the Mets the last two days.

Kahnle went 1/3 of an inning Tuesday, and retired the only batter he faced, but the Mets thumped Detroit, 12-5. On Wednesday, it was a different story. Kahnle went 1 1/3 innings, giving up 2 hits and 2 walks, as the AL Central leaders salvaged the final game of the series, 6-2.

The Tri-City Valleycats have drawn first blood in the Frontier League playoffs, beating Sussex County, 5-1, on Wednesday night. Connor Wilford went 7 strong innings to pick up the win, and Ian Walters homered. Today is a travel day, and the teams will play game 2 tomorrow night.

Spectrum News 1's Friday Night Matchup returns tomorrow with a Class B game between Amsterdam & Averill Park, as the Golden Knights have dropped down in class after winning the Class A title last year. The Golden Knights return 16 starters from 2024, and James Allen, who will call the game with Chris Watson, has them finishing first, per today's Albany Times-Union.

Speaking of Troy, James Allen has them finishing 3rd in the Class A Capital Division, with Niskayuna moving in from Class AA to take over the division (Nisky was in the Grasso Division before moving to AA last year).
