News & notes

To borrow from Agatha Christie, and, then, there were none.

Saratoga's bid to bring home a state football championship fell short on Saturday, as CBA-Syracuse 3-peated as Class AA champions in a 41-12 rout.

Of course, there's always next year.

Let's take a look at Sunday's high school action (yes, there was some):

Men's basketball:

Loudonville Christian 43, South Kortright 40.

Johnstown 42, Cairo-Durham 39.

Mayfield 58, Hadley-Luzerne 22.

Duanesburg 53, Maple Hill 51.

Tamarac 64, Gloversville 52.

Mohonasen 49, Fonda-Fultonville 42.

Looking ahead to tonight, Warrensburg has cancelled its road game at King's School, with no reason given. They'll play Crown Point instead at home. Also, two women's games have been cancelled. Canajoharie-Fort Plain will not play Edmeston tonight, and Middleburgh, already off to an 0-2 start, has cancelled their game with Stamford-Jefferson.

Make it 7 in a row for Siena's men's basketball.

Antonio Chandler led 4 Saints in double figures with 16 points. Siena (9-2) is now idle until December 17 when they play Vermont.

Not a good night for UAlbany Saturday, as they were blown out by Columbia, 93-65. Ouch! Up next for Albany (3-7) is a game vs. Yale at the Hall of Fame Classic in Springfield, Massachusetts on Wednesday (4:30 pm, ESPNU, WTMM).
