News & notes

We wrote earlier this week about some discrepancies we found as it pertains to the record of Troy High's men's basketball team. Troy, now 9-4 after losing to Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Tuesday, was credited with 4 losses by the Albany Times-Union in Monday's editions, because the staff there got the wrong information about last Friday's home game vs. Ichabod Crane.

That's because the misinformation, we discovered, came from MaxPreps.com, which falsely reported that the Riders had won. Nope, and the proof is right here:

Whatever happened to fact-checking?

The lone Section 2 hockey game last night saw Saratoga defeat Adirondack, 5-3. The Rivermen are right back at it tomorrow night as part of a Friday doubleheader at the Glens Falls Recreational Center.

The Albany Firebirds can breathe a collective sigh of relief heading into the 2026 season.

That's because QB Sam Castronova and receiver Duane Brown have opted back in after leaving the UFL's Memphis Showboats without playing a game. Something tells me the UFL is going to have more problems down the road.
