Wednesday's snowstorm forced postponement of the Class AA women's semifinals at Hudson Valley Community College and the men's Class D semis at Cool Insuring Arena.
However, HVCC did host the Class A women's semis before fans were sent home early Wednesday night.
Averill Park will look to make it six titles in a row on Saturday afternoon after shutting down the Academy of Holy Names, 46-31. The Colonial Council's last hope couldn't penetrate the Lady Warriors' defense enough, unable to reach double figures in any quarter. Meanwhile, in a battle of Foothills Council co-champions, Queensbury defeated Amsterdam, 63-51. The Lady Rams had been the bridesmaid to Averill Park the last three years, and before that, AP knocked off Troy in an overtime thriller in 2015.
Speaking of Troy High, their men's semifinal vs. Mekeel Christian Academy has been moved up on the schedule for today in Glens Falls. In order to fit in the Class D semis, the A semis will be sandwiched in between. Gloversville vs. Mohonasen will tip at 5, followed by Troy vs. Mekeel at 6:30. The quadrupleheader starts with the first D semi, Fort Ann vs. Germantown, at 3:30. However, there won't be any time to rest for the D winners, as the final is set for tomorrow.
At HVCC, the women's AA semis will begin at 6 pm, with Albany vs. Saratoga, followed by Shenendehowa vs. Colonie.
