The Skating Cadets of LaSalle will live to fight another day.

LaSalle snapped a 14 game losing streak Saturday night in upsetting Albany Academy, 5-2. Brendan Witte & Hunter Caola had two goals each for LaSalle, which moves to the quarterfinals, date & site to be announced later today.

Meanwhile, Shenendehowa drilled the Capital District Jets, 8-2, and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake-Ballston Spa blew away the "Niskerdam" Mohawks, 9-1.

Alumni watch: Sacred Heart evened their weekend series with Virginia Commonwealth, beating the Rams, 5-1, on Saturday. Brett Young went 0-2 with a walk and a run scored, playing left field. Carter Knapek went 3 1/3 innings in relief without giving up a run as the Rams tried to come back. Series concludes today.

Pittsburgh split their two games at the Pirate Invite softball tournament on Saturday, losing, 2-1, to Massachusetts before beating Towson State in the nightcap, 5-2. Hunter Levesque, batting second vs. UMass, and leadoff vs. Towson, went a cumulative 2-5 with an RBI and three runs scored.

RPI wrapped the home portion of its ECAC men's hockey schedule by beating Princeton Saturday night on Senior Night, 5-1. Right now, prospects look good for hosting a first round series at the Houston Field House, as the Engineers move back above .500 for the season.
