ICBL notes

Good thing there are no playoffs in the Independent Collegiate Baseball League. The Albany Athletics don't need them.

The league champions split another doubleheader with the Dutch tonight, dropping a 9 inning first game, 9-5, as starter Chris Salamida tired, and Ryan Lambert (Colonie/UAlbany) blew the save in the 7th. The Athletics won the nightcap, 5-2, to salvage the night.

The Dutch limp home under .500 after going 2-4 in three double-dips over the course of four nights, including tonight, having split with Glens Falls on Monday.

Speaking of the Independents, they played a single 9 inning game at home against Amsterdam, instead of a previously scheduled doubleheader. Amsterdam, led by hot hitting Andrew Pedone (Shen), beat Glens Falls, 10-4. William Van Busekom (CBA) started as the "extra hitter" and homered, then finished the game on the mound. The two teams will play a doubleheader at Shuttleworth Park on Saturday. The Independents will then close the season at home against the Athletics on Monday. Amsterdam, having swept the Dutch last night, would then finish vs. the Athletics at Shuttleworth next Wednesday.

Standings:

Athletics 20-3-2.
Dutch 13-14-2 (season ended).
Mohawks 11-12.
Independents 2-19.

None of the teams are actually going to play 30 games after all.
