As they say in horse racing, down the stretch they come.
The Glens Falls Independents have won just 2 games this season, both coming against the Albany Dutch.
Glens Falls split a doubleheader with the Dutch Monday to earn that second win in impressive fashion, 11-5, after losing the opener, 4-0. The Dutch's recent losses have resulted in the Albany Athletics clinching the league title.
The Athletics defeated Amsterdam, 5-3, at Shuttleworth Park. Andrew Pedone & Jake Reinisch, a pair of Shenendehowa grads, homered for the Mohawks in a losing effort. Chris Salamida came in from the outfield in the 7th to record his 7th save of the season.
Standings heading into play tomorrow:
Athletics 19-2-2.
Dutch 11-11-2.
Mohawks 8-12.
Independents 2-18.
