News & notes

 The Suburban Council will have their bowling championships later today. Troy High enters the competition on a down note after losing, 5-0, to Averill Park in the regular season finale on Thursday, leaving their record at either 5-7, 6-7, or 5-8, depending on the result of their season opener last month at Albany, which was never reported to the press. I'm willing to guess that the Falcons, the host team that day, chose not to report the result due to losing, so we'll go with Troy at 6-7 until we hear otherwise.

Update, 12:49 pm: The Albany Times-Union reports that there was a previously unscheduled match between Troy & Bethlehem, date unknown, won by Troy, 4-1, so the record would be 7-7.
==================================
UAlbany's women's team officially is on pause until next Friday, so this weekend's games have been postponed, likely cancelled, since there are only a couple of weeks left in the regular season.

==================================
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake's women's basketball team showed some signs of improvement last season, such that they finally defeated Troy High.

However, after having to wait 2 months to play a meaningful game this season, the Lady Spartans reverted to previous form Thursday night, as they were steamrolled by Shenendehowa, 68-30. Ouch!

The Huerter sisters, Meghan & Jillian, combined for 28 points (Meghan had 17, Jillian 11) to lead the way for the Plainswomen (1-0).

The men's teams from the two schools meet in Burnt Hills tonight.
