Swept across the Plains(men) (Shenendehowa vs. Troy, 2/18/21)

Today's matinee between Shenendehowa and Troy was not only a battle of the unbeatens, but a litmus test for the Flying Horses, who have rarely gotten the measure of the Plainsmen, especially since entering the Suburban Council in 2015.

A bleak omen, however, came in the 2nd half of the JV game, as Shen's defense held Troy to 8 points total, turning a 2 point halftime lead into a 16 point margin of victory, 52-36. Luckily, the varsity game was a lot more exciting, a close game throughout.

As you'll see in the video, Troy's notoriously ancient PA system needs to be sync'ed to the live-stream, preferably yesterday. The audio mix was worse than usual, and the system has been around since probably the 50's. When ye scribe has been at live games, I've heard more snaps, crackles, & pops than an average bowl of Rice Krispies.

We'll get the stats by this time tomorrow. For now, enjoy the game.

Shen stays undefeated, while Troy dips to 2-1. For Troy, they're right back at Zotto Gym on Saturday, as Curtis Sankey brings Columbia in, hoping to make it two in a row over his alma mater. We will have the result of the women's game tomorrow.
