High School Fridays: Albany Academy vs. LaSalle @ Frear Park, 2/19/21

 Bring on Bethlehem!

If they were back at home at Conway Arena, in front of fans, the skating Cadets of LaSalle would've almost certainly heard that chant at the end of today's game vs. Albany Academy.

Of course, the game was not only played at Frear Park, but it was also the nightcap to a doubleheader, as the ice arena's other tenant this season, the Capital District Jets, hosted the defending Delvecchio Cup champions earlier in the day. More on that later.

It was Academy, however, that drew first blood in the first period, as Mac Frazier found a hole above the shoulder of LaSalle netminder Leo Paul to give the visitors a short-lived 1-0 lead. It didn't take long for LaSalle to answer back, though. Hunter Caola, who'd gone off the ice earlier after a slight leg injury, evened the score by poking one past Academy goaltender Emma McIntyre, and it was all square at 1-1 after one period.

In the second period, LaSalle rang up a pair of goals just a couple of minutes apart, as Brendan Witte & Jagger Sessa beat McIntyre. Late in the frame, Owen Robinson beat Paul to get Academy closer at 3-2. Unfortunately, that was as close as Dave Rider's club would get.

LaSalle put the game away in the third period with four goals, rolling a 7 for the second straight game in completing a season sweep of the Battle of The Cadets, 7-2.

LaSalle will play Bethlehem Tuesday & Wednesday, with puck drop around 4:10 both days. Tuesday's game is at Bethlehem, and then the teams will return to Frear on Wednesday. The Eagles, meanwhile, swept the Capital District Jets with a 9-1 blowout earlier in the day. Jack Lucey led the way for Bethlehem with four goals. It might not be that easy against LaSalle, which will play the Jets in what amounts to a match for rent money next weekend. Bethlehem destroyed the Jets Thursday, 10-3.
