Saving the best for last (Averill Park @ Troy, women's volleyball, 4/19/21)

The territorial rivalry between Troy High & Averill Park depends on the sport.

Troy, of course, owns Averill Park in football. In contrast, the Warriors have dominated the Flying Horses in women's basketball, soccer, and tennis. The softball teams have played fairly even in recent years.

Volleyball?

It was Senior Night at Troy, as the Lady Warriors came to town in the pentultimate Suburban Council match of the season, only to find a Troy team that has found a rhythm in recent days, having won two in a row, including a non-league whitewash of Maple Hill on Saturday.

For the first time this season, Talia Valenti's Flying Horses were extended to five sets, and the last one was one for the books, as Troy won the final set, 27-25, winning the match, 3-2, running their winning streak to three in a row.

Check it:

Tomorrow brings a non-league match vs. Tamarac, representing the Wasaren League, before Troy (4-9 overall, 3-9 Suburban Council) closes the league schedule at Saratoga on Friday night.
