This time, an audience watched (Atlanta @ Yankees, 4/21/21)

8 months ago, Ian Anderson made his major league debut at Yankee Stadium, and out-pitched the Bronx Bombers' biggest free agent signing of 2020, Gerrit Cole. Due to coronavirus, the audience consisted of cardboard cutouts.

Wednesday night, Anderson returned to the Bronx, this time with family and friends looking on, and shut down the Yankees over 6 2/3 innings, giving up 4 hits and 4 walks while fanning 4. While both teams have been slumping in the first month of the season, the Yankees had it worse, even though they'd won the first game of this two game series on Tuesday, such that their biggest highlight, as you'll see in the video, was left fielder Clint Frazier making a diving catch, then, without any time to pull his hat back up, nearly pulling off a double play. I tell you, Frazier came out of this looking like Beetle Bailey on defense.

Frazier also had a hand in the Yankees' lone run in the 9th, but by then, it was too little too late, with Atlanta winning, 4-1. Anderson, in his young career, is now 2-0 vs. the Yankees. Aaron Boone's club might want to hope they don't see him again in August when the two teams meet at Truist Park in Marietta.

Here's a highlight reel from MLB, collecting snippets of radio & television broadcasts from the teams' TV & radio outlets. The game also aired on ESPN.

Meanwhile, in Manhattan, Kevin Huerter and the Atlanta Hawks went to overtime before falling to the scorching hot Knicks, who've now won 8 in a row. Huerter played 44 minutes, and scored 17 points (7-15 overall shooting, 2-8 from 3 point range).
