Monday's high school scoreboard, 5/3

Since joining Troy High's bowling team a couple of years back, Olivia DeCitise has proven she can throw strikes.

So it makes sense that she's throwing strikes of a different kind as a pitcher for Troy's softball team, which opened the 2021 season Monday with a 1-0 win over city rival Catholic Central in a non-league game. Olivia had 15 K's on the day as she threw a complete game shutout. Catholic High's Skyler Wessels also went the distance, giving up a walk-off single by Emma Thompson in the home 7th.

Troy's season opening homestand resumes tomorrow, weather permitting, of course, with another non-league game against a former Big 10 opponent, this time Amsterdam, now in the Foothills Council.

For what it's worth, Monday's game was not listed on the Catholic Central page of the Colonial Council website. The JV game, as we've noted, was postponed, with no make-up date set. Troy will be home all week, playing five games in seven days overall, including yesterday.

A quick reminder that Troy's men's lacrosse game vs. Niskayuna, scheduled for today, has been postponed and reset for May 19. An attempt to reach out to AD Paul Reinisch for a reason for the postponement, be it COVID or weather, was not answered as of press time.
