It's the end of June, five days after graduation, and Section II has already released their 2021-22 basketball calendar.
As with the fall sports schedule, league play will start a little later than normal this season. While we don't know who Troy High has brought in to succeed Richard Hurley as head coach, they do have a full slate of games, including a pair of non-league contests, on the docket.
I'm guessing that Section II wants to leave a little breathing room for players transitioning from football to basketball or hockey. Either that, or it's to give teams ample opportunity to schedule pre-season tournaments.
Following is Troy's varsity basketball schedule. Women's varsity games are at the opposite site, except where noted.
December 3: Women vs. Burnt Hills @ Averill Park.
December 4: Women vs. Averill Park or South Glens Falls @ Averill Park.
December 10: @ Colonie (women's home opener vs. Colonie).
December 11: Men @ CBA-DeWitt (5:30 pm approximate tip).
December 14: Men's home opener vs. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake.
December 17: @ Shaker.
December 19: Coaches Against Cancer game vs. Green Tech @ HVCC (8 pm approximate tip).
December 21: Averill Park.
December 28: @ Schenectady.
January 3: Men vs. Mount Anthony.
January 4: @ Saratoga.
January 7: @ Ballston Spa.
January 8: Men @ Schalmont.
January 14: @ Albany.
January 18: Schenectady.
