News & notes

Former LPGA golfer Dorothy "Dottie" Pepper is now working in television, but you can bank on the fact that she's paying close attention to a high school sophomore who could be the next Section II player to go on the tour.

Albany Academy's Kennedy Swedick won her 2nd straight Section II title Tuesday at McGregor Links, carding a 66 over 18 holes. Keep in mind that she is a sophomore. It's very possible she could win again as a junior & senior. Academy teammate Nicole Criscone finished 2nd, three shots back at 69, and two more Lady Cadets, Jillian Rawson & Samantha Von Rohr, a sophomore & a freshman, respectively, tied for 3rd, 14 shots back. Criscone, by the way, is a junior, so all four of these talented ladies will be back next season.

If this doesn't convince any of the local stations to cover this event, even on tape delay, what does?
