High School Fridays: The best of the night, 12/10

I don't know if Section II has decided that public address announcers are to turn their mics off after introducing the starting lineups, but it's disconcerting for people using YouTube to watch the games.

One example of this was tonight's women's game between Bethlehem and visiting Guilderland. We'll have the full stats for this game tomorrow. Bethlehem has taken down the video of tonight's game,  but might have it back before the end of the weekend.

Bethlehem goes to 3-0 with the 40 point blowout win, 71-31. It's early, and they have not played the top teams in the Suburban Council (i.e. Averill Park, Shen, Saratoga) yet.

Bethlehem also won the men's game, a low-scoring affair, 38-36. Trust me, the boys will be embarrassed upon returning to campus on Monday, knowing the women outscored them.

Otherwise, the trend seemed to be that teams were splitting men's & women's games.

For example, Averill Park's women are also 3-0 (1-0 Suburban Council) after blowing out Ballston Spa, 70-21. We think the Lady Scotties may be fighting Troy for the Grey division basement. Conversely, Dave Pugilese's men's squad dropped a 72-44 decision to the Scotties.

Ryan Meikle's Troy women dropped to 1-2 overall (0-1 league) in losing to Colonie, 63-24, again suffering from a lack of scoring ability.

However, in Colonie, it was business as usual for the Troy men, as they dismissed Colonie, 71-57. Troy used a 17-4 2nd quarter to take control of the game, and were never headed. However, they don't have time to rest on their laurels, as it's off to Western NY for a game against CBA-Dewitt tomorrow afternoon before coming home Tuesday for the home opener vs. Burnt Hills.

Update, 12/11, 1:03 pm: Colonie has reposted the men's game, including a portion of the JV game.
