High School Fridays: Troy @ Shaker (boys' basketball), 12/17/21

Could Troy High have been looking past Shaker, and ahead to Sunday's game vs. Green Tech, the finale of the Coaches vs. Cancer marathon this weekend?

It's hard to say. Troy has had Shaker's number in recent years, but if John Killian's team went into this game thinking this would be another win, they were proven wrong. The Blue Bison's defensive pressure slowed the pace to their liking, not Troy's, and the Bison led at the break.

However, back came Troy, and the Flying Horses took the lead going into the fourth quarter. Shaker, though, came right back, and fought back to get the game to overtime. They did it by going back to the pressure defense that helped them set the pace in the first half. The Bison outscored Troy, 16-7, in the extra frame, pulling away for a 61-52 victory.

Troy drops to 2-2 (2-1 Suburban Council), and will face old friend Zaveon Little and Green Tech next before coming home to play Averill Park on Tuesday.
