Early birds (Troy @ Schenectady, women's basketball, 1/18/22)

When it was announced earlier in the day that the JV game between the Troy High & Schenectady women's basketball teams was postponed, likely due to COVID, it was agreed that the varsity game would move up to a 5 pm tip-off.

Ryan Meikle and the Lady Horses said, thank you very much, and proceeded to complete a season sweep of the Lady Patriots, 60-42. The only reason the score was that close was because coach Meikle lifted his starters late in the 3rd quarter, but that opened the door for the hosts to mount a minor comeback, outscoring Troy, 17-9, in the final frame.

Troy goes to 4-9 on the season (2-7 Suburban Council), and will continue their road trip in Guilderland on Friday, then at Kingston on Saturday as part of a men's & women's doubleheader. Schenectady is locked in the basement of the Suburban Council's Grey division.
