"It's a new dawn, it's a new day..."--Michael Buble, "Feeling Good".
After six straight losses, the above, you would think, would be the mantra for Troy High's women's basketball team as they opened a four game homestand vs. the equally hapless Lady Scotties of Ballston Spa.
Unfortunately, Troy was only able to dress seven players for the game, which makes one wonder again about COVID and any effect it might have on the team. The junior varsity could only dress five players, and were subsequently mauled, with the JV 5 playing the entire game.
Seeing being short-handed as another obstacle to overcome, Troy relied on the district mantra:
"We can. We will. End of story."
Troy scored the first five points of the game, and never trailed, finishing the night on the plus side of a blowout for a change, 52-27, to go to 1-6 in league play (2-7 overall), while the Lady Scotties, reduced to kibbles, are still looking for their first league win of the season.
