Three nights ago, LaSalle's hockey team felt they had lifted an enormous burden off their collective shoulders with their first win of the season, ending a 19 game drought dating back to last year.
Unfortunately, the same team that started that losing streak was their opponent tonight. CBA.
The Brothers jumped on starting goalie Caleb Ellis for 5 unanswered goals before LaSalle came up with three goals of their own in the second period. Power play goals for the Brothers late in the 2nd and early in the 3rd period put the game away, and an ill-timed penalty to LaSalle junior Nathan Harriman sealed the Cadets' fate as CBA extended its own winning streak over LaSalle to four in a row, 7-4.
LaSalle now heads home to prepare for part 2 of the Battle of The Cadets vs. Albany Academy on Friday night.
We'll have some stats tomorrow, though I doubt there will be anything significant in the papers, given the lack of attention the CDHSHL has gotten this season.
