This weekend's high school basketball showcase at the Washington Avenue Armory isn't getting a lot of attention, but it should. Seven games on today's schedule, likely the same number tomorrow.
Today's lineup:
Newburgh Free Academy vs. Bishop Maginn, 12 noon. Newburgh has run into some tough luck playing Section II schools the last few weeks. Maginn has undergone a resurgence of late.
Mount St. Joseph Academy of Vermont vs. Hoosic Valley, 1:30 pm (approximately).
Voorheesville vs. Mechanicville, 3 pm (approximately).
Mekeel Christian Academy vs. Schalmont, 4:30 pm (approximately).
St. Joseph's Prep vs. Albany Academy, 6 pm (approximately).
Rutland vs. Saratoga, 7:30 pm (approximately).
Cohoes vs. Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons, 9 pm (approximately).

The Albany FireWolves had their 3 game winning streak snapped Friday night in Duluth, Georgia, losing to the Georgia Swarm, 14-13. The Swarm got 2 goals and 6 assists from former UAlbany star Lyle Thompson, who will have a homecoming tonight at MVP Arena in the return match.
With the loss, Albany falls to 3-3, good for 4th place in the National Lacrosse League's Eastern Division. Tonight also marks the first time the 'Wolves will be playing on back-to-back nights.
