News & notes

 Siena College would love it if the MAAC tournaments moved out of Atlantic City, and back to Albany or elsewhere.

Both Saints teams went one & done in this year's tournament. The women's elimination wasn't so surprising, but the men were expected to go further than they did.

The men were shocked, 77-71, by Quinnipiac on Thursday night. Earlier in the day, the women dropped a 60-59 heartbreaker to Niagara. In effect, the season is over, barring the men gaining an entry into a secondary tournament, such as the NIT.
==============================================
As of right now, Saturday's state semi-finals in high school hockey, set for the Harbor Center in Buffalo, are still on schedule, with Shenendehowa to play Suffern at 9 am, and Queensbury to face Pelham at 2 pm.

We can't say the same for the basketball regionals.

The NY State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) announced Thursday that all 10 games set for Saturday at either Clinton Community College or Hudson Valley Community College were being postponed to Sunday due to a incoming storm that is set to drop anywhere from 4 to 10 inches beginning after midnight tonight. The postponements, of course, give the teams an extra day to practice and prepare. The games will remain in the same order in terms of starting times on Sunday.
