News & notes

RPI's men's hockey team needs to win back-to-back games for the first time since December if they want to advance in the ECAC playoffs.

The Engineers dropped a 3-2 decision to Dartmouth Friday at Houston Field House, as the Big Green avenged a 6-3 loss in the same venue a week earlier. Puck drop tonight is at 7 pm, and if a 3rd game is needed, it'll be at 4 pm on Sunday.

Meanwhile, in Schenectady, Union clipped Princeton by the same 3-2 score, and can close out the Tigers tonight. Game times today & tomorrow are the same as in Troy, 7 pm tonight, 4 pm tomorrow if needed.

Sometimes teams can come together fairly quickly. We've seen it with the Tri-City Valleycats for years, and, despite not having a full 12 man roster, the Albany Patroons jelled in a hurry Friday at the Washington Avenue Armory.

AJ Mosby led five Patroons in double figures with 25 points as the Patroons crushed Massachusetts, 134-99. Albany travels to Atlantic City tomorrow before returning to the Armory next Friday to play Lehigh Valley.

Friday's high school scoreboard:

Men's Class C finals:

Maple Hill 64, Fort Plain 60.

Men's Class CC finals:

Stillwater 73, Greenwich 61.

Stillwater & Maple Hill will meet on Monday at Cohoes High to determine who the champion is between the two classes.
