News & notes

The Tri-City Valleycats got out to a fast start Thursday, as Denis Phipps & Brad Zunica went back-to-back with home runs to lead the 'Cats past the Florence (Kentucky) Y'alls, 7-4. The series continues tonight, and the 'Cats will get two days off, Sunday & Monday, before coming home to face Lake Erie on Tuesday.

Now, all we need is a means to listen to the games on the road.

Normally, you'd save the best for last.

Unfortunately for Troy High's lacrosse team, they saved the worst for last.

The Flying Horses, last in the Suburban Council with just one league win, left their defense at home Thursday, as Bethlehem scored a season high in goals in posting a 30-0 shutout on Senior Day. The 30 goals also represents the most goals scored in a game by any team in Section II. Dane Jones had 5 goals and 2 assists, and Mason Adams (not to be confused with the actor) added 4 goals. The Eagles led, 14-0, after the 1st period, and 22-0 at halftime.

In the words of Keith Olbermann, guhhhh.
